Rahimat Onize Shaibu was awarded Winner of the Open Category (Round 10) in the Amateur Photographer of the Year 2025, organised by Amateur Photographer.

Her winning image, The Sun Within, was selected for its strong visual impact and symbolic storytelling. Her work Blessed Rain also placed 4th in the same round. Both works were published on the Amateur Photographer website and featured in the magazine.

Rahimat Onize Shaibu’s work was featured in the Royal Photographic Society Journal (January–March 2026, Volume 166) as part of the Members’ Photo Challenge themed “Connections.”

Selected by photographic artist Andy Pilsbury, one of her submitted images was chosen among the top six photographs and published in the journal (page 20), recognised for its visual interpretation of connection through portraiture and storytelling. Two additional submitted images were also shortlisted for the challenge, highlighting the strength and consistency of her photographic practice within an international RPS membership community.

Rahimat Onize Shaibu was awarded Winner of the Photography Category at the Walsall Society of Artists 75th Annual Exhibition, held at The New Art Gallery Walsall.

Presented during the society’s diamond-year exhibition, the award recognised the strength of her photographic practice and her distinctive approach to portraiture and visual storytelling. The exhibition brought together selected artists across disciplines, celebrating contemporary artistic practice within the UK’s regional arts community.

Rahimat Onize Shaibu was profiled in Nigerian national newspaper The Nation in the feature article “When Conceptual Portraiture Tells Visual Narrative.

The article highlights her practice as a UK-based fine art and portrait photographer whose work centres on symbolism, cultural storytelling, and emotionally driven visual narratives. The feature recognises her distinctive use of conceptual portraiture, handcrafted elements, and colour to explore themes of identity, womanhood, and inner emotional worlds, positioning her as an emerging voice contributing to contemporary photographic discourse.

Rahimat Onize Shaibu was shortlisted as a finalist in the prestigious British Photography Awards 2025 for her evocative self-portrait “Sunflower Girl.” The recognition celebrates her distinctive visual storytelling and creative exploration of identity through fine-art photography.

Rahimat Onize Shaibu was featured on Channels Television, discussing her journey as a Nigerian fine-art photographer based in the UK. In the interview, she shares insights into her creative process, inspirations, and how her work bridges cultures through storytelling and portraiture.

Rahimat Onize Shaibu was awarded 1st Place for her digital photograph “Reach For Light”, at this global online exhibition celebrating the hue of optimism, resilience and creative expression through yellow.

Rahimat’s creative practice is explored in depth in this profile piece, highlighting how she transforms ideas of identity, heritage and resilience into compelling photographic narratives.

Rahimat’s work was presented alongside established artists in the “Playful Perspective” group show at Madhouse Gallery, Lagos, further demonstrating her engagement with international visual dialogues.
